The safe sheltered sandy beach is protected by Duggerna Reef, which is a natural wonder itself with some large and small rock pools full of marine life which can easily explored. Snorkeling and diving are popular in Kilkee, all neceassary equipment can be hired locally.
Exploring the Rockpools
Breathtaking cliff walks from the West end and the East end of Kilkee offer some splendid scenery which is often compared to the scenery around the Cliffs of Moher - but without the crowds!
Cycling along the Cliffs
The Loop Head Scenic Drive will take you to numerous scenic outlooks all the way to Loop Head Lighthouse, which is open to visit in summer. Dolphins, whales and seals appear regularly on and around Loop Head Peninsula. A variety of rare birds, like skuas, storm petrels and shearwaters can be seen flying past and attract birdwatchers from near and far.

The atlantic coast offers a number of angling spots on rocks, cliffs and on the beaches. But also the inland waters, the many rivers and lakes in the area make West Clare a paradise for anglers. All the necessary gear can be hired locally, fishing trips are available.

Kilkee has a beautifully located golf links course, in walking distance from the house. Many more golf courses for all ambitions can be found closeby. Kilrush, Spanish Point are all less than half an hour away.
